Silver Celtic Cross
The Silver Celtic cross is a form of Christian cross of ringed design it became widespread through its use in the stone erected designs across the islands, especially in regions evangelised by Irish missionaries, from the ninth through the 13th centuries.
This form gained new popularity during the Celtic Revival of the 19th century; the name “Celtic cross” is a convention dating from that time.
The shape, usually decorated with interlace and other motifs from Insular art.
Our Silver Celtic cross is a beautiful and meaningful symbol.
It is a symbol of Christianity, hope, and resurrection.
It is a symbol that has been used for centuries and that continues to be used today.
These were designed mainly by John Hart senior whom was one of the pioneers in the revival of Scottish celtic jewellery in the 1940’s.
John M Hart has also added his own designs of St Margaret and St Kentigern and lately we have introduced the St Torranan cross.
We have named our crosses after some of the Scottish Saints and the world famous crosses of Iona Abbey.
