Islay, also known as Ìle, is the southernmost of the Inner Hebrides islands of Scotland. It is known for its whisky production, with nine distilleries on the island. Islay is also a popular destination for birdwatching, with over 200 species of birds recorded on the island.
The island is known for its dramatic scenery, with rugged coastline, peat bogs, and lochs. Islay is also home to a number of historical sites, including the ruins of the 13th-century Finlaggan Castle, which was once the seat of the Lords of the Isles.
