Loved this ring from the Hebridean Jewellery poster fell in love with it. My partner bought me it as a early christmas present and after 19 years being together a wedding may be imminent.

I bought a 9ct rose/red gold Gu brath band in Crocks & Rocks, Portree, Isle of Skye to replace a Mo gaol ort band of the same colour/ct. I actually lost the mo gaol Ort one when moving my cattle through the hills behind Lochalsh and was gutted. I didn’t claim on insurance and thought I would just get another one from Portree as the first one was £250 in May ’09. I actually ordered it to be made in my size and was happy to pay a deposit but was told I would just pay for it when it arrived from Hebridean Jewellery. I only had to wait a couple of weeks and was delighted with my beautiful, heavy, gorgeously-made ring. This one, however, isn’t nearly as nice. The celtic part of on the underside is a different design, there are a few little bits between the lettering that are raised – hard to describe and I know it’s only me that will see it, but this ring was over £750 and I feel it’s too expensive for what you get. I should’ve just gotten a plain rose gold band and a replacement engagement ring instead. Sorry if this seems like a bad review – I just think the prices have increased far too much and you’re not getting more for the extra money. I feel proud to have a Gaelic ring to match my heritage, but paying through the nose for it is the way we live up here! We have to pay extra for everything and I guess it’s the same at Heb jewellery – they probably pay extra for materials and delivery and will have to up prices to recover the costs. The gemstone rings are stunning and I love the Mo gaol ort rings but there’s a Welsh company who make gorgeous rose gold rings and I think I’m going to buy one from there instead and sell this one. For someone looking for something to represent their Highland and Island roots or who wants something different but gorgeous, I would recommend HJ though. It’s just my experience that’s promoted this review. Crocks and Rocks in Portree have a gorgeous wee jewllery selection of HJ stuff and they are very helpful and really nice folk. I would recommend them highly.
